Color Studies
In early 2019, while in recovery from an operation on my right-hand thumb, I began exploring Kleenex tissues as an art medium. I started by making Color Studies to understand the particular qualities of this paper with ink. Tissues are delicate, fragile, and non-archival; yet, I’m drawn to work with the material. Somehow this moment on our planet, in our culture, and at my own stage of life, all seem resonant with those qualities.
The humbleness of the medium provides unique creative freedom. And "Color Studies" aren’t burdened with the same cultural weight as “Works of Art”.
